📖 Введение
Modern English is constantly developing, and more and more foreign and domestic linguistics attach importance to the study and analysis of oral speech. An integral part of living natural speech is profanity, which includes jargon with pronounced social and cultural specificity. In the modern world, youth jargon is an integral part of the everyday speech of the younger generation. It reflects the peculiarities of the culture, values and worldview of young people, making communication within this group more understandable and separate. That is why jargon is a key element of interviews with young celebrities, conveying the uniqueness of their speech and worldview, as well as allowing viewers to more accurately understand famous people and feel connected to them by age. However, when translating youth jargon, certain difficulties arise due to differences in vocabulary, grammar and culture between the source and the translating languages. In linguistics and translation studies, there are a number of different approaches to the question of the peculiarities of translating youth jargon in various linguistic situations. That is why there is a need for a comprehensive study of youth jargon based on the material of English- speaking interviews.
The relevance of the study is due to the fact that at the moment there is no unambiguous attitude in linguistics to the issue of translating youth slang in various linguistic situations. All this has necessitated a comprehensive study of the translation of youth jargon on the material of several languages, in particular English and Russian, which contributes to improving the linguistic competence of translators, the development of speech culture and a sense of communicative appropriateness of the use of language tools in different spheres of communication.
Scientific novelty is determined by the modernity and relevance of the material under study. This study allows us to contribute to the study of youth 5
jargon and ways of its translation within the framework of dubbing English¬speaking interviews into Russian.
The object of the study is the jargon used in the original and its equivalents in translation.
The subject of the study is the translation strategies used in the transfer of English-speaking youth jargon into Russian.
The purpose of this study is to identify the features and ways of translating youth jargon in the context of translating English- speaking interviews into Russian.
The tasks that we are faced with are as follows:
1. to define the concept of "sociolect";
2. to identify the distinctive features of argot, slang, and jargon;
3. to identify the features of youth j argon;
4. to identify the main methods of translating youth jargon;
5. to study the features of the interview translation;
6. to analyze the most common ways of transmitting youth jargon when dubbing English-speaking interviews into Russian using the example of practical material.
In accordance with the purpose and tasks of the study, the main research methods in this work are: method of theoretical analysis, method of continuous sampling, method of analyzing dictionary definitions, method of comparative analysis, descriptive method.
The theoretical basis of the research was the works of such scientists as V.A. Khomyakov, V.N. Komissarov, B.A. Serebrennikov, L.S. Barkhudarov, B.C. Vinogradov, V. Koller, Yu.Nayda, R. Hudson, P. Tradgill, etc.
The practical basis of the research is the English-speaking interviews of celebrities in the original, as well as their dubbed versions into Russian. The material for the practical part of the study was selected in accordance with the method of continuous sampling. In total, 200 examples of the use of youth jargon in English-speaking interviews were selected, as well as options for their translation into Russian...
✅ Заключение
In the theoretical part of the study, it was revealed that the main function of jargon in interviews is to give the speaker's speech vivacity, imagery and expressiveness. Jargon reflects the speaker's social, cultural, professional, or age affiliation. Youth jargon, in turn, serves as an indication of the age of the interviewees.
Also, in the course of the study, the most frequently used translation strategies used to transfer jargon into the translating language were listed and considered. As a result, a proprietary classification of strategies for translating youth jargon in English-language interviews was developed. It includes such strategies as analog translation, transcription/transliteration, lexical transformations (concretization, generalization, reformulation, and modulation (semantic development), grammatical transformations (substitution, omission), lexico - grammatical transformations (antonymic translation and explication (descriptive translation)), and euphemization.
In this study, method of continuous sampling was used to select 200 examples of youth jargon use in English-language celebrity interviews.
The study found that the most rarely used strategy for transferring youth jargon into Russian is antonymic translation.
Analyzing the collected examples, it can be seen that the most commonly used translation strategies are the selection of an analogue translation, explication and euphemization. However, it is precisely the analogue translation and transcription /transliteration strategies that make it possible to more fully translate English-speaking youth jargon into Russian without losing the stylistic coloring of 66
the original expression.
The result of the study showed that different translation strategies can be used when translating youth jargon. Translators' point of view plays an important role in selecting the way of translating the jargon vocabulary. Translators choose this or that strategy relying on their experience and knowledge accumulated in the process of work. However, in order to adequately convey English youth jargon, translators should be proficient in this vocabulary in Russian.
A small number of works in both linguistics and translation studies have been devoted to the study of youth jargon and its translation in the context of dubbing. However, jargon vocabulary plays a very important role in the lexical composition of any language. Jargon contributes to the realization of a number of functions in the speaker's speech. Thus, this study makes a definite contribution to possible further studies of translation strategies in the transmission of youth jargon.
The materials of this qualification research paper can be used in the practical activities of translators specializing in the translation of English-speaking interviews. As well as the data obtained during the analysis of the collected language material, they contribute to the theory and practice of translation.
